Langhe D.O.C. Chardonnay - 2022
YELLOW
Yellow means strong personality, like that of our Langhe Chardonnay. Typical aromatic notes of Chardonnay are citrus fruits, such as lemon and grapefruit, but also banana and apple. All fruits are yellow in colour.
WHY WE LIKE
Chardonnay has always been an integral part of our hills. Our Chardonnay takes something from its French cousins and something from traditional Piedmontese whites. Barrel ageing gives it complexity and structure in the mouth, while at the same time it remains fruity on the nose, a typical characteristic of the Langa terroir.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
- Variety : Chardonnay 100%.
- Harvest : hand picked on the hills in Cossano Belbo.
-
Vinification : The grapes are harvested between the first and second week of September. In the cellar, the grapes are destemmed and then gently pressed. The must is immediately racked into oak barrels where it undergoes fermentation. Barrel ageing lasts a whole year with constant batonage of the yeasts inside the barrels. The wine is then racked into steel where it spends a winter to stabilise at low temperatures. It is then bottled in spring, about 20 months after the harvest.
-
Colour : straw yellow with greenish highlights.
-
Aroma : Complex and well intense, the citrus notes of citron and lemon stand out, this combined with tertiary aromas such as vanilla and caramel.
- Taste : fresh and harmonious attack, it is full in the mouth and, once swallowed, the finish is savoury and balanced.
SERVICE AND FOOD PAIRINGS
It is recommended to serve it cold, at around 10°C. This Langhe Chardonnay goes well with fish dishes because of its natural flavour, very suitable as an aperitif accompanied by cold meats and fresh cheeses. Suggestion: absolutely try it in combination with raw fish.
